Аннотация: Данная статья Б.Ф. Ломова посвящена анализу вклада инженерно-психологических исследований в теорию общей психологии. Хотя инженерную психологию часто называют прикладной дисциплиной, она ставит и решает проблемы, связанные с фундаментальной наукой. В инженерной психологии пересекаются психологические и технические (кибернетические) понятия, что позволяет разрабатывать новые подходы к изучению психических явлений и выделять новые феномены. Примером последнего может служить то, что через инженерную психологию в общую теорию психологии были введены понятия «информация», «прием и переработка информации», «опознание», «шум», «выбор», которые обозначили новые аспекты познавательных процессов, а также дифференцированы понятия «информационный поиск», «обнаружение сигнала» и «выделение информационного содержания сигнала». Кроме того, инженерно-психологические исследования предлагают новое понимание функционирования внимания, памяти, мышления и др. Следующим направлением обогащения общепсихологической теории посредством инженерной психологии является, во-первых, возвращение к обсуждению проблемы психических функций мозга и выделение их основных видов (прием информации, ее переработка, хранение и регуляция на ее основе деятельности (поведения)), а во-вторых, постановка проблемы психических состояний в связи с деятельностью оператора и разработка способов контроля и регуляции состояний человека. Наконец, исследования обсуждаемой области психологии способствовали использованию математики в описании и анализе психических явлений. Важной составной частью психологической теории стали математические модели, которые, с одной стороны, обобщают экспериментальные данные, с другой – переводят их на теоретический уровень. Таким образом, инженерная психология вносит существенный вклад в развитие фундаментальной психологической науки.

Abstract: This B.F. Lomov’s article is devoted to the analysis of the contribution of engineering-psychological research to the theory of general psychology. Although engineering psychology is often referred to as an applied discipline, it poses and solves problems associated with fundamental science. In engineering psychology, psychological and technical (cybernetic) concepts intersect, which allows developing new approaches to the study of mental phenomena and highlighting new phenomena. An example of the latter is that through engineering psychology, the concepts of “information”, “reception and processing of information”, “recognition”, “noise”, “choice” were introduced into the general theory of psychology, which identified new aspects of cognitive processes, and also differentiated the concepts of “information retrieval”, “signal detection” and “separation of the information content of a signal”. In addition, engineering-psychological studies offer a new understanding of the functioning of attention, memory, thinking, etc. The next direction of enriching the general psychological theory through engineering psychology is, firstly, returning to the discussion of the problem of the mental functions of the brain and highlighting their main types (reception of information, its processing, storage and regulation of activity (behavior) based on it), and secondly, posing the problem of mental states in connection with the activities of the operator and the development of methods for monitoring and regulating human states. Finally, research in the area of psychology under discussion has contributed to the use of mathematics in the description and analysis of mental phenomena. Mathematical models have become an important component of psychological theory, which, on the one hand, generalize experimental data, and, on the other hand, transfer them to a theoretical level. Thus, engineering psychology makes a significant contribution to the development of fundamental psychological science.
